In the UK, our Diagnostics business based in Burgess Hill and Newhaven in Sussex provides the industry’s broadest product range, spanning all sectors of the market. Our products empower patients to monitor their own chronic conditions easily and accurately. In particular, Roche has developed innovative systems for people with diabetes and those receiving anti-coagulation therapy.
In hospitals, our products play two important roles - supporting laboratory services by providing accurate diagnosis of patient samples and enabling the rapid and often life-saving diagnosis of medical conditions in accident & emergency, intensive care or in the operating theatre.
Roche pioneered the application
of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology and our products enable
clinicians to monitor the progression of diseases and their patients'
response to treatment. We are also one of the world's leading manufacturers
of research reagents and systems for determining the causes of,
or people’s predisposition to, disease.
Diagnostics are set to play an increasingly important role in the future of healthcare as genetic knowledge presents new and exciting opportunities. Our vision of the future is one where clinicians and patients are armed with Actionable Health Information - information that reduces the uncertainty in the medical decision making process, enabling them to choose between the alternatives available to prevent or treat disease.
