Roche Diagnostics UK Ltd, is dedicated to managing activities and buildings in such a way that
promotes environmental protection and sustainability, conserves natural resources and
minimises pollution on land, water, air, flora and fauna.
The Environmental Management System will be documented, implemented and maintained.
Specific actions will include:-
- Meet or exceed Company, legislative and good practice requirements.
- Allocate appropriate resources to ensure that a programme of continual improvement is
implemented and maintained.
- Optimise and maintain plant and processes in order to minimise usage of energy, water
and other resources and reduce our overall carbon footprint per head.
- Induct, educate, train, evaluate and supervise contractors to ensure that work is conducted
in an environmentally friendly manner.
- Minimise the generation of waste, and minimise the proportion of waste requiring
disposal through landfill, by actively encouraging the reuse and recycling of waste
materials including cardboard and paper, metals and glass.
- Actively promote values, attitudes and behaviours that will continue to reduce our
environmental impact.
- Work closely with other interested parties (see 4.1 below) to develop and implement
agreed environmental initiatives as appropriate.
- Document and regularly review processes and procedures for their environmental impact.
- Investigate environmental incidents, and ensure that corrective actions are implemented
to prevent recurrence.
- Develop a monitoring programme to collect positive performance indicators and incident
data, and utilise this information to drive continual environmental improvement
processes.
- Communicate details of the EMS to employees and ensure this information is available to
the general public as appropriate.
- Encourage modes of transport which minimize environmental impact and manage our
fleet to meet Euro VI compliance.
